The owners, Daryl and Janet Eby, Tom Jacobs and Vilis Inde, love the natural beauty of the Big Bend area of
Texas. The Ebys reside in Terlingua and Tom and Vilis reside in Marfa. They were drawn to the Getaway because
of the magnificent view of the East Corozones and to its central location for beautiful drives, hikes, etc.
Based upon their success in renting another home in Terlingua Ranch, the owners decided to renovate a
neglected adobe home at the base of the East Corozones Peak. The extensive renovation has resulted in
additional interior space, a carport and the exterior decks and porches. The goal was to create a home away
from home where one does not have to feel like they are roughing it simply to enjoy the beauty of the area.
A temporary pond that is filled during the rainy season provides water for a broad variety of animals. The pond is
visible from the porch.
Daryl Eby, continues to help visitors at the Getaway and is glad to talk about snakes (he is an avid herpetologist.
He can also show visitors acreage that is for sale in the area.
That's Daryl's son with Tom and Vilis's dog, Clifford. Dogs will love the Retreat!
