*These statistics relate to Panther Junction in Big Bend National Park which is at an elevation
of 3,750.  Temperatures are cooler by 5-10 degrees in the Chisos Basin area because of the
additional elevation.  They are also 5-10 degrees warmer once you are at the lower elevation
of the Rio Grande.

The rainfall often occurs as thunderstorms and extremely heavy showers that last a relatively
short period of time.

Despite the weather conditions, we recommend that you bring plenty of water along for any
activity. The desert and the sun dehydrates people very quickly.
